Autumn/Winter 2022 features an exquisite study in variegated metallic textiles including paillette-adorned embroidery, featherlight gold lamé jacquard, and luminously reflective duchess satin. These arresting surfaces flicker with soft radiance, seducing the eye and conjuring a mirage of futuristic proportions. Inspired by the prismatic bronze surfaces of Alma Allen’s sculptures and the intricate woven goldwork of textile artist Olga de Amaral, Johnson’s foray into metallic textures imbues every dimension of the collection from our dramatically structured frocks in crinkly sapphire and platinum, to satchels and clutches in soft leather that is coated with liquid foil.
