Escape to Inspiration: Argentina and Uruguay
Ulla in Argentina and Uruguay
Coming from the United States, South America is a dream travel destination, not least of all for its corresponding time zones. Full of exotic destinations where you can be at once far flung and free of jetlag, the continent also gives you a complete seasonal switch-up, as it’s high summer there during our winter, the perfect time to go. Hence, Ulla recently embarked on a trip to Uruguay and Argentina.
Her first stop was Jose Ignacio, Uruguay, where she stayed on a rancho complete with wild horses and a bird sanctuary. Sustenance came largely in the form of entraña, skirt steak cooked over an open fire, most notably at Francis Mallmann’s restaurant Garzon and her favorite seaside spot La Huella. Between horseback rides and beach naps, she found time to work with local artisans on her signature patchwork furry sweater.
On the second leg of the trip, in Buenos Aires, Ulla fell in love with the riding outfitter Arandu, finding inspiration in gaucho style for her alpaca handloom scarves. Over the two destinations, Ulla took the opportunity to use her special talent for blending work and play to get the most out of every country she visits.
